The Best Fat-Burning Exercises

The best fat-burning exercises are those that utilize the largest number of muscle groups at the same time and that you can engage in for an extended period of time. Here is a list of the top 7 fat-burning exercises as I see them, including both aerobic and anaerobic exercises.
  1. Swimming - swimming is an ideal fat-burning exercise because you recruit just about every muscle in your body to propel yourself through the water. Most notably, your back and legs are getting a serious workout when you swim, and your back and legs are the largest muscle groups in the body with the largest fat-burning potential.
  2. Rowing - just like swimming, rowing works your legs and back hard, so it forces these large muscle to burn lots of energy.
  3. Running - running burns a lot of fat because it works your legs, your largest muscle group.
  4. Walking - like running, walking burns a lot of fat by working your largest muscle group, and is a highly underrated fat-burning exercise.
  5. Lunges - my favorite leg-building exercise, lunges are superior to squats for fat-burning because they recruit more stabilizing muscle.
  6. Pull-ups - my favorite back-building exercise, pull-ups recruit lots of muscle fibers and help you develop important back strength without putting much compressive load on your spine.
  7. Push-ups - push-ups call upon a good amount of stabilizing muscle fibers, and if you've been focusing on dumbbell presses and bench presses for your chest development, you should give this exercise a whirl.
